Saint David's Centre
Queens Road, Withywood, Bristol
The Centre was opened and blessed on Tuesday the 26th September 1972 by Bishop Joseph Rudderham.
The booklet, produced for the celebration, describes how volunteers rose to the challenge of building the St David's Centre as a service to the community. They gave generously of their skills and time, often working on the building in the evening and weekends. They worked as a team under the guidance of an architect and foreman and managed to keep the cost down to £10,000!
The booklet finishes with 'members of our parish and indeed of this community; owe to those who built St David's Centre, and their families, a debt of honour as well as of gratitude, which is, to be as generous and co-operative with their own time and efforts in building up a spirit of service, help and care.
The St David's Centre is now leased by the Community Services Volunteers.
